Introduction to Consulting in Non-Profit organisations

This one-day introduction to management consultancy will offer you insights and skills in how to use consultancy effectively inside your own or with external organisations. It is the UK’s only programme that specialises in one of the fastest growing areas of the non-profit market.

In an intensive introductory day you’ll discover what’s involved in consultancy, some of the key tools and approaches, and how to set your self up if you want to try it as a career or development opportunity.

Take our online quiz: 'Could you cut it as a consultant?'

Programme leaders

The day will be led by Bernard Ross, Director of =mc, internationally experienced management consultant, and author of the award-winning Breakthrough Thinking. He’ll be assisted by members of the =mc management consulting team all of whom have extensive practical experience working with charities and public bodies from UNICEF to London Borough of Haringey. You’ll have the chance to talk to them about real world examples over lunch and in the breaks well as in a Q&A session at the end of the day.

Approach

This programme draws on =mc’s 25 years of delivering sustainable change for charity and local authority clients against specific organisational challenges. We also draw on the work of leading commercial firms such as McKinsey and Accenture, and consultancy thinkers such as Peter Block (Flawless Consulting) and Peter Senge (The 5th Discipline)

Learning methods

Before attending you will be asked to prepare a simple case study to bring. We’ll use the latest in learning techniques including: programme leader input; case studies; small group work; role-play; and coaching feedback.

You’ll leave with a workbook you’ve added to throughout the day building on the activities and a practical action plan.
