At the moment
I’m working with UNICEF to create a global case for support – a guide for fundraisers in UNICEF’s 37 national committees around the world about what is important and distinctive about UNICEF and its work.
I'm helping MIND to develop a new fundraising strategy that will radically grow income to help people in mental distress and will help tackle the stigma that surrounds mental health issues.
I'm also working with Age UK to transform the contribution that major donors make to the overall income raised in a long term, sustainable way.
Outside of my work at =mc I am a board member of CARE International UK.
Before =mc
My early career was in the commercial sector – in advertising and market research. I joined the voluntary sector more than 15 years ago to set up a corporate fundraising operation for British Heart Foundation. I then moved to NSPCC as Head of Major Donors – well before most charities moved into major donor fundraising. I was promoted to Joint Campaign Director for the NSPCC’s groundbreaking Full Stop Appeal and then to Deputy Director of Fundraising.
I became a consultant in 2002 after the birth of my first child. The key to successful strategies – for fundraising, for major donors or for capital campaigns – is adapting the theory to each organisation’s unique setting: and that’s the bit I enjoy most, turning the dry theory into something that is real, practical and most importantly do-able.
