1. Singapore Management University / The Lien Centre for Social Innovation

  • Consultant to the non-profit Leaders Professional Education Course

2.   Infocomm Development Authorities (IDA) -Govt of Singapore

  • Domain study on use of ICT (infocomm technology) by non-profits in Singapore

 

3.  International Development Research Centre (IDRC) South-East Asia

  • Private Sector Partnering Strategy Development  

 

4.  Global Development Network :

  • Developed a fundraising strategy for Global Development Network (GDN), a network of research institutions founded by the World Bank to improve its access to unrestricted funds
  • Assessed the feasibility of an US$50 Million endowment fund and the timeline over which such a fund should be developed
  • Carried out market mapping and entry strategies in Asia, Middle East and Australia


5. National Council of Social Service / Community Chest, Singapore:

  • The Community Chest’s SHARE program ( Employee / Workplace giving ) saw the donor base grow from 30,000 donors to nearly 300,000 during the  time that Usha was responsible for it in the 1990s
  • Usha has recently been contracted by NCSS to re-launch SHARE and help them build back the donor base
 
6. Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) – Asia /Pacific:

  • Board, Fundraising committees and fundraising strategy development and donor relationship management for Habitat for Humanity affiliates in Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Australia, Fiji, PNG, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand and the Mekong region among others
  • Established and empowered HFH affiliates in Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore and was responsible for all areas of governance, management, legal, financial and human resource aspects
  • Instrumental in developing HFH's ‘Global Collaboration Network' to bring together new resources and people of goodwill to meet funding and program needs
  • Conceptualised the Major Donor/ High net-worth individual donor strategy for HFH Hong Kong that has resulted in income of $1 million annually and growing
  • Developed the 5 years campaign and implemented a successful IndiaBuilds Advisory Council of Corporate decision makers and high-net worth individuals to raise resource for a US$65million campaign to support the housing needs of 250,000 homeless. Among other methodologies, this campaign also included a Diaspora fundraising strategy
  • Conceptualised and implemented the ‘Under No Roof' advocacy and fundraising event for HFH in Singapore that was later rolled out in other Asian countries and has now become an annual event regionally for HFH

  • Advice on market enhancement and risk assement in the South East Asia region


8. NCSS / Social Service Training Institute (SSTI), Singapore Trainer since 2003 to present on:

9. National Volunteer & Philanthropic Center (NVPC), Singapore:
  •  Sept 2009 - Volunteer Management Clinic
  • Contracted in 2007 to author the Donor Management Framework, which is presently part of the resource materials available through NVPC for Singapore VWOs.

10. YMCA, Singapore:

  • Conceptualised the ‘Youth for Causes' program and brokered the sponsorship with Citigroup for YMCA in 2003. The program has over the past 5 years raised over S$2.1 million, mobilizing over 45,000 volunteers and providing a return on investment 254.7% to Citigroup's sponsorship.
11. National Youth Council, Singapore:
  • Recently contracted to train Youth organisations in Singapore to secure Corporate Sponsorships in preparation for the Youth Olympics.

12. Lien Centre for Social Innovation, Singapore:

  • Usha was one of only 19 thinkers and practitioners invited to write in the inaugural issue of Social Space 2008 highlighting new ideas, innovative thinking and best practices in the social landscape in Singapore.

13. Duke of Edinburgh's Award International Association, UK:
  • Recently engaged to facilitate the Board Retreat for their international board and leadership team to review their Asia Pacific fundraising strategy.
14. Central Singapore Community Development Council: 
  • Engaged in early 2008 by Central CDC to build their donor/sponsor recruitment skills and in the words of Agnes Kwek, General Manager, they already have major increase in donors since being trained by Usha.

  • HelpAge India - Trained and mentored their staff in the South Zone to development and implementation of their employee giving program
