My areas of expertise:
- international NGO evolution
- strategic analysis and operational planning
- global civil society and social change
- organisational innovation and elaboration
- releasing adaptive capacity and persuading people for excellence
- leadership development and intensification
At the moment:
I am currently working with a range of non-profit organisations who are, in their different ways, embracing the challenge of adapting effectively to a rapidly changing world. This includes Capability Scotland, the World Society for Protection of Animals, The Prostate Cancer Charity and the Seren Group who provide housing and support.
I'm also delivering sessions at our Thought Leadership seminar series for senior managers, directors and CEOs in the not-for-profit sector.
Before =mc:
I spent the last decade in the number two seat at Amnesty International’s HQ, driving internal innovation to better match the extraordinary pace and strategic dilemmas of a post 9/11 world. Change at the global HQ was essential but not enough. Transforming overall vision for Amnesty’s architecture globally: that was the real challenge!
Four years leading a national Amnesty branch out of financial, industrial and governance crisis and into unprecedented growth proved to be great preparation. However, my driving intrigue, which is with enabling social change organisations to become more adaptable, responsive and, crucially, more effective began much earlier – in public health – where through a range of management positions, in settings large and small, I learned, sometimes the hard way, what makes for high performing organisations.
I am very excited to be drawing on the fruit of this diverse experience to make inevitable the success of those striving for social justice.
