At the moment
I have recently been working with the BBC to develop and pilot a new programme designed to support team leaders and supervisors in their first step into management. Alongside this I am also continuing to work with Macmillan Cancer Support in delivering the Transformational Leadership programme for their middle and senior managers.
Over the next few months a lot of my main focus is going to be on project management! This will include both running training for organisations like Fairtrade Foundation but also helping a number of smaller organisations, like Panos London, look systematically at how they communicate, scope and develop projects within the organisation.
Finally, in any spare time, I hope to begin to look at how we at =mc can use web technology more effectively in offering webinars (interactive online seminars). So, watch this space.
Before =mc
I come from an arts background and have worked as a creative practitioner. I also spent several years working in finance for commercial property developers. Alongside both of these roles I was an active volunteer, coordinating and running activity holidays for teenagers every summer.
After a year spent working for a locally run project based in North India, I continued my career in the not-for-profit sector. Working for several years for the Church Mission Society, an international development agency, I managed a mixed team of volunteers and experts working internationally through partner organisations. This gave me a real insight into the challenges of remote management and cross-cultural working.
Over the last year I've completed my Masters in the education, training and development of adults.
Working at =mc has enabled me to fulfill my real passion – which is seeing people develop their potential, and enabling others to be better managers. I derive real satisfaction from helping not-for-profit organisations become more effective, and I look forward to working with many more!
