 About the School

The National Arts Fundraising School was established in 1988 and is run by The Management Centre (=mc) in association with Second Wave Consulting (2WC).

Deans Place HotelSet in the beautiful East Sussex countryside, the School’s aim is to equip you with the skills needed to realise your own potential and the fundraising potential of your organisation. Over six intensive, challenging – and fun – days you’ll develop your understanding of the techniques, strategies and approaches used by the very best fundraisers.

The work is challenging and rigorous, sometimes from early morning to late into the evening, but the energy and enthusiasm of the trainers and other participants will make this a truly enjoyable experience.

You will emerge equipped and enthused to develop a comprehensive strategy for your organisation, and you will become an extraordinary fundraiser able to tackle a wide range of challenges, from major capital appeals to producing sustainable revenue.

The benefits of the National Arts Fundraising School continue to grow long after the programme finishes, with regular NAFS alumni events, a network of other fundraisers in the field and the continuing support from the School’s expert trainers.

It was a wonderful week of inspiration and learning. Within a week of the course, I redrafted four sponsorship proposals - and shortly afterwards we secured the biggest title sponsorship that Cambridge Folk Festival has ever received. It has given me all of the tools and confidence I need to approach my fundraising.

Elaine Midgley, Arts Development Manager, Cambridge City Council

The National Arts Fundraising School has been invaluable. Since attending, I have been involved in capital partnership fundraising campaigns totalling some £3.1M. I couldn't have raised this much money without the skills gained on the School!
